Matumaini Child Care Center
Matumaini, meaning 'Hope' in Swahili, is located in Rau Village at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro. The center’s mission is to house and educate orphaned and vulnerable children, ranging in age from six to eighteen years. Knock helped support Matumaini since its inception in 2007, culminating in the construction of a brand new, permanent center complete with two classrooms, a large dining hall with a kitchen and store, and two dormitories. Knock’s partnership agreement with Matumaini expired in late 2012, but we continue to assist with many of the children’s educational needs and will continue to do so moving forward.
