April 2011
Kim Krowne is the Co-Founder and Managing
Director of the Knock Foundation, a non-profit
working to create opportunities for underserved
populations in the developing world. Kim lives
in rural Tanzania, where she works to improve
the lives of orphaned and vulnerable children as
well as to create educational programs,
including seminars about HIV/AIDS and safe sex
practices.
Question: What word that begins with L.
is the most meaningful for you and why?
Answer: Laughter. Laughter is one of my
most favorite sounds. It emotes feelings of
happiness and joy that are contagious to all who
hear it. What is amazing to see around the world
is even in the most harsh living conditions,
laughter is abundant - people are able to find
the joy in their lives and celebrate it.
Question: How can love change the world?
Answer: Love is a universal emotion felt
by all people the world over. Filling your own
heart with love and sharing it with others in
turn fills the world up with love. The more we
love ourselves, the more we are able to give to
others.
Question: Why do you love what you do?
Answer: Working in Tanzania has given me
the chance to affect positive change in the
lives of others every single day. I can't think
of a better way to spend my life - giving to
others the opportunities I've been lucky enough
to have.
